The Pitztal – a paradise for cross-country skiers

Glide through the Pitztal’s unique winter landscape on cross-country skis. There is 150 km of cross-country track available in total. Take advantage of the heavenly routes in the valley in the Inner Pitztal or the snow-sure high-altitude track on the Pitztal Glacier (2,600m) and in the Rifflsee skiing area (2,280m) – they are among the most snow-sure tracks in Austria! Cross-country skiers can also use the ski bus, free of charge and there are bus stops in every hamlet in the Pitztal.

NEW 2010/11: Cross-country skiing centre Pitztaler Glacier and high-altitude track Rifflsee

The new relocated cross-country skiing centre at the Pitztaler Glacier - near the Mittelberg cable car - offers professional prepared skating and classic cross-country skiing tracks and many further benefits for you:

• Infrastrucure facilities
  Premises to change clothes and to wax the skiers, wc at the Mittelbergjochbahn 
• Start of the season
  Start of the cross-country tracks (season) from approx. mid September
• Special Ticket 
  With this ticket you can drive to the cross-country skiing centre and come back with the Glacier express and the Gletscherseebahn
• Track length
  between 3 and 7 kilometres, depending on the snow
• High altitude training
  between 2.690 m and 2.740 m sea level you can improve your endurance
